What This Clause Does

Auto-renewal means your contract rolls over for another full term — often a full year — unless you give notice to cancel within a narrow window before the renewal date. Miss that window by a day and you could be locked in for another year.

This is one of the most common traps in SaaS contracts. The cancellation window is often only 30-60 days before renewal, and the renewal date isn't always prominently displayed. Set a calendar reminder the moment you sign. For enterprise contracts, negotiate a longer notice window and an obligation for the vendor to remind you before the deadline.
